“A highly trained specialist…add her to your little black book!” Naomi McCarthy
Pippa Glendon-Doyle BA MA LicAc.
BAcC Accredited Acupuncturist in Wandsworth, London
I support with a wide variety of conditions, but those I see frequently are: menopause, menstrual issues including PMDD, PMS, fertility, headaches, stress, anxiety, muscular aches and pains and autoimmune conditions.
What to expect in a first session
In a first session, we discuss what you want support with, your medical history and I will ask various questions about sleep. appetite and general lifestyle. After this I feel the pulse (the speed and quality give me information about energy levels) and take a look at the tongue (gives me useful information more relating to fluids/hydration).
Most people that come in are curious and I generally explain the treatment, what I am doing and why. I pop the needles in and make sure that the person is warm enough whilst I write up their notes.
In follow-up sessions, we talk for 5-10 minutes, I repeat the pulse taking and then pop the needles in. Most people find acupuncture deeply relaxing and it’s a good time for people to switch off and sometimes go to sleep.
If I need to see someone regularly, we do a quick review every 4 sessions to check progress, if they want to focus on something different and whether they should reduce the number of visits or increase them.
Quite often, people often come in for physical symptoms and complaints but find that acupuncture helps them feel more balanced and less anxious. So sometimes I won’t see someone that regularly but if they go through something stressful at work or in their private life, I may see them regularly to support them through that period and boost their resilience.
Why am I an acupuncturist?
I experienced the benefits of acupuncture on my fertility journey 12 years ago. It was also transformative in addressing anxiety and chronic neck and shoulder issues! The changes were so profound, that I retrained and now bring the benefits to other people!
From the moment you come to clinic, my focus is on listening carefully, understanding root causes, and working with you so that you can achieve what is important to you.
